Maria’s journey at Foster Clark started as a Purchasing Clerk, wherein she assisted the department in clerical duties. She then read for a Diploma in Management Studies at the University of Malta, and has since enhanced both her academic and practical skills. In the past years, the Foster Clark management team has given her the opportunity to advance in her career and she now occupies the position of Purchasing Officer. She says that her expertise within the purchasing department is an on-going process and she looks forward to other interesting challenges.
Tell us more about your present role?
The role of Purchasing Officer is mainly attributed to the purchases of material at the right quality, at the right price, and at the right time. Ensuring a sound business relationship with suppliers contributes to achieving the purpose of my role. From an internal organisational perspective, my role supports the demands of production.
What attracted you to Foster Clark?
A key factor that attracted me was the continuous growth of Foster Clark and I knew that my skills and knowledge could contribute towards the success of the company. I wanted to be part of a prosperous company that offers room for growth and improvement.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Being able to meet deadlines/target dates, particularly in situations where operations depend on the timely arrival of procured material. My job gives me opportunities in developing my technical skills through the continuous learning of hands-on projects.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
Dealing with suppliers from diverse cultures and ensuring that suppliers comply with the agreed terms and conditions. Culture plays an important part in engaging suppliers to become extended partners of the company.
What do you reckon makes Foster Clark different?
Foster Clark stands out from other local companies since it successfully manages to compete with various large foreign firms on a global platform.
